Development and Afforestation are not mutually exclusive… we want to demonstrate this by giving forests a new definition; one that is relevant in this rapidly developing world.


We believe it is time to shift from manicured landscapes to purpose based plantations that contribute to better air quality, water conservation, checking global warming and supporting the overall ecosystem. Acacia Eco is working towards creating Miyawaki forests that are fast growing and sustainable.

If we were to ask you to close your eyes and think of a forest – most of you would be seeing variations of large areas covered with trees. It’s hard to think of how individuals can contribute to afforestation at a personal level, when we think of forests that way.


But imagine a new definition of forests – forests that are small and modular; forests that can be ‘inserted’ in empty spaces around you!

This was the pilot project done, inspired by a TED Talk on the Miyawaki method. The success of this pilot was the inspiration for Acacia!

THE MIYAWAKI METHOD

A unique methodology proven to work in varied soil and climate conditions, resulting is a fast growing, sustainable, chemical free forests.

  • 10x faster plant growth

  • Around 30-40 different native species 

  • 30x denser than conventional plantations

  • Upto 30x more carbon -dioxide absorption 

  • Self sustainable in two years

1. SOIL AND WATER TESTING FOR SELECTED SITES

Tree selection and soil treatment requirements are determined based on the results

2. IDENTIFICATION OF TREE SPECIES FOR SITE

Native tree species are selected based on the soil/water, type of site and client preferences

3. PROCUREMENT OF MATERIAL AND SAPLINGS

Material like organic manure and saplings are procured, many of this comes from our in house nursery

4. SOIL PREPARATION AS PER MIYAWAKI METHODOLGY

The soil’s water retention capacity, perforation and available nutrition content is enhanced

5. MIYAWAKI METHOD CLUSTER PLANTATION 

Cluster plantation has different tree species planted in close proximity - between 3 to 4 trees in 1 sq. m area

6. MAINTENANCE AND GROWTH MONITORING

Regular watering and weeding is done for two years post which the forest becomes self sustained
